President Obama has issued a presidential proclamation recognizing November as National Caregivers Month.

In the proclamation the President said, “Each day, courageous individuals step forward to help care for family members in need, their quiet acts of selflessness and sacrifice telling a story of love and devotion. Across our country, parents and children, siblings and spouses, friends and neighbors heroically give of themselves to support those in their lives affected by illness, injury, or disability. During National Family Caregivers Month, we salute the people who play difficult and exhausting roles, and we recommit to lifting up these Americans as they care for their loved ones while protecting their dignity and individuality.”

The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) and the Caregiver Action Network (CAN) have produced materials to help you promote National Family Caregivers Month in November. This year’s theme is “Care Comes Home.” The latest from NAC, includes a social media kit with templates for you to adapt in your own state. More on their website. CAN has prepared the National Family Caregivers Month Media Kit. The media kit includes the theme, background on National Family Caregivers Month and a sample proclamation for state and local governments. These materials are available for free to use and distribute to other interested parties. Read more.
