November is National Runaway Prevention Month, which brings awareness and extends prevention measures to the many youth who runaway every year. This month is also an opportunity to spotlight the available resources for runaway youth who find themselves in crisis. During the month of November, individuals, organizations, and communities across the nation are encouraged to work together to prevent youth homelessness.

There is a huge need for prevention for runaway youth. According to NRPM, between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth runaway in a year. These numbers are unacceptable, especially when to think that most, if not all, of these children, will end up on the streets. NRPM states, “These are not bad kids; they are in bad situations.” By bringing awareness to national runaway prevention month, you are ensuring to these children that they are not alone.

There are many events that are bringing awareness and advocating for runaway youth in November, and you can see them here.
