Leaders United for Change
A CWLA project
On January 1, 2025, the Annie E. Casey Foundation provided seed funding to establish the Leaders United for Change (LUC) as a project of CWLA. The initiative’s founding members included Black, Indigenous, and People of Color leaders, as well as family members and youth with lived experience, who provide various services to children, youth, individuals, families, and communities.
We are excited to be launching this new initiative to build on and expand the far-reaching work of CWLA and improve outcomes for families throughout our communities. LUC will be powered by vibrant collaborations with non-profit providers, oversight agencies, youth and families, to reach our common goal. Contact Lloyd Bullard to learn more about becoming involved with the project.

Leaders United for Change is dedicated to achieving and sustaining social equality and equity by fostering collaboration with stakeholders to ensure access to resources and opportunities for all. Our vision is that every individual will have equitable access to opportunities and resources.
Leaders United for Change Summit 2025
Leaders United for Change is scheduled to hold its first summit in New Orleans, LA, from October 9 to 11, 2025. This gathering will bring together both private and public leaders and youth and family members with lived experience from around the country.
The primary purpose of the summit is to engage in the development of the committee’s strategic plan for 2025/2026. Committee members will collaborate on establishing goals, identifying equity challenges, and creating action steps that align with the group’s commitment to achieving and sustaining social equality and equity by fostering collaboration with stakeholders to ensure access to resources and opportunities for all.
Book Project: Case Studies – Learning from Our Experiences
Leaders United for Change is working on a forthcoming book that will serve as a bold and necessary invitation to reimagine the fields of health and human services through the transformative lens of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB). Designed for a diverse and inclusive audience—including current and aspiring professionals, graduate students, faculty, researchers, organizational leaders, and individuals with lived experience—this volume will equip readers with the strategies, tools, and insights needed to challenge systemic inequities and lead with intention and impact.
Grounded in the Equity Literacy Framework and driven by the Case Method, each chapter will draw from real-world experiences to illuminate the complex dynamics of identity, power, and resistance within organizations. Contributors are invited to present powerful case studies that highlight both the challenges and possibilities for advancing equity in the workplace. These case studies will include critical questions for reflection, points of consideration, and optional additional learning resources to extend the reader’s understanding and action.
