On November 30, 2021 House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) released the 2022 House Calendar here.  If the Congress runs into the Christmas and New Year’s holidays it will be a quick return to work for the House members with the start of the second session on Monday, January 10, 2022. There will be a break for the Martin Luther King Holiday on January 17, 2022, and the assumption is that the President’s State of the Union will be sometime during the last week of January.

 

The Spring break will be April 11 through April 24 with Congress returning on Monday, April 24 (the CWLA Conference starts on Wednesday, April 27—early registration now). With an election year, the House schedule anticipates no activity in October through Tuesday, November 8, election day.

In announcing the schedule, Hoyer also released a list of legislation passed by the House this year with action still awaiting in the Senate including: H.R. 4 – John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021; H.R. 5 – Equality Act; H.R. 8 – Background Checks Act of 2021; H.R. 1280 – George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021;and H.R. 1620 – Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2021.
