CWLA signed onto a letter to President Trump in support of vaccinations.  The letter signed by more than 300 groups is in response to some presidential comments and at least one meeting with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. indicating that the President may set up a group to review the use of vaccinations.

The letter states:

Although vaccines are the safest and most cost-effective way of preventing disease, disability and death, this country still witnesses outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases, as highlighted by the measles outbreak at Disneyland in 2014. In 2012, 48,277 cases of pertussis (whooping cough) were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including 20 pertussis-related deaths. This was the most reported cases of pertussis since 1955.”

The letter, which was spear-headed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, goes on to say, “Claims that vaccines are unsafe when administered according to expert recommendations have been disproven by a robust body of medical literature…” It also indicates that the groups are willing to meet with the President to talk further
