On Thursday, April 15, 2021, the Biden Administration announced the release of $39 billion in child care funding resulting from the March passage of the American Rescue Plan. The allocations for the states found here are divided between $14.9 billion in flexible funds and $23.9 billion in stabilization funding. They also announced that they would provide guidance to states, tribes, and territories in the coming weeks, including the use of webinars and peer-to-peer learning opportunities, to governments as they determine how to use the funding. They also said they would be issuing a “Frequently Asked Questions on the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit” to help parents on how to use the separate tax credit that also provides some limited child care support.
