Internship Announcement

Position Title:  Government Affairs Intern

Posted Date:  8/22/2005

Reports to:  Tim Briceland-Betts, Senior Government Affairs Associate

Main Internship Project:
  • Provide a unique experience in child welfare policy analysis, legislative process, and advocacy.
Main Internship Responsibilities:

Work as part of the CWLA Government Affairs team on policy analysis, research, web searches, other support for legislative agenda.
  • Build knowledge base on priority issues.
  • Engage in policy analysis.
  • Attend Congressional hearings, markups, forums, briefings, and coalition meetings.
  • Assist Gov't Affairs staff in formulating and implementing policy agenda.
  • Develop understanding of effective public policy operation.
Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Demonstrated interest in public policy, government affairs, federal legislative process.
  • Willingness to be part of a team and take on variety of assignments.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Masters level student in social work
  • Law students
