Job Description:
The Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services is conducting a search on behalf of Governor Lincoln D. Chafee for the next Director of the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The Director is a Cabinet-level appointment within a five-agency Secretariat organization headed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The Director oversees a total annual budget of $235 million, over 600 employees, and serves, on an annual basis, an average of 11,000 children, youth, and families in the areas of child welfare, children’s behavioral health, and juvenile corrections.
Qualifications:
• Hold a master’s degree in social work or a closely related field, and have demonstrated experience in child welfare and/or children’s mental health, and/or juvenile justice; and
• Have at least five (5) years of increasing responsibility in administering programs for children.
