Take Action to Support the SBS Prevention Act

8/22/2007:   Proposed federal legislation is on the table to help prevent the most preventable form of child abuse--Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS).

The SBS Prevention Act, introduced by Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY), would provide $10 million to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop and implement a public information and education campaign aimed at preventing SBS.

Prevent Child Abuse America has provided more information in its online Legislative Action Center about the legislation and how to contact senators and representatives to ask them to cosponsor. Prevent Child Abuse America's website also contains links to learn more about what local Prevent Child Abuse America Chapters are doing to support the SBS Prevention Act and tips for parents on how to prevent SBS.
