Teleconference Discusses Experiences of Immigrant Youth
The teleconference is part of NCTSN's monthly Culture and Trauma Speakers Series highlighting the work of NCTSN experts in important areas relating to culture and child trauma. Each session presents practical and research-based information and is designed to address individual- and organizational-level objectives. Registration is free and open to the public.
The featured presenter for the June 29 teleconference is Luis Flores with the Border Traumatic Stress Response Center, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and located in Laredo, Texas. The center provides crisis intervention and counseling services to children and adolescents ages 2-18 who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event.
NCTSN recently published and has made available online a Culture and Trauma Brief on this topic, Preliminary Adaptations for Working with Traumatized Latino/Hispanic Children and their Families.
