Organization Promotes Children's Compassion, Courage, and Character

12/27/2006:   Growing up, Jeremy Glick always followed three values instilled by his parents: compassion, courage, and character. Thirty-one-year-old Glick put those values to the ultimate test on September 11, 2001, when he and fellow passengers sacrificed their lives to prevent terrorists from flying Flight 93 into a Washington, DC, target.

Glick's family and friends have since founded Jeremy's Heroes, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to children so they can improve their bodies, minds, and spirits through sports. Funding from Jeremy's Heroes goes toward sports camp tuition, tournament and travel scholarships, training and coaching, equipment and uniforms, facility refurbishment, opening new program sites, and establishing afterschool sports programs.

In conjunction with the grants, Jeremy's Heroes kids participate in character education and conduct community service projects, such as neighborhood improvement projects, literacy workshops, mentoring and tutoring, coaching, staffing soup kitchens and food banks, and clothing and toy drives.

Visit Jeremy's Heroes online to apply for financial assistance and learn how communities and children have used their financial gifts from the organization.
