Start Planning Early for National Parent Leadership

12/21/2006:   Though February may seem far away, now is the time to begin planning and organizing activities for National Parent Leadership Month. This important initiative will include a series of national, state, and local activities to recognize, honor, and celebrate parents for their leadership roles in their homes and communities.

CWLA has partnered with Parents Anonymous as a cosponsor of National Parent Leadership Month and is encouraging CWLA members and other child advocates to download a toolkit of resources for planning activities from the Parents Anonymous website. These resources include
  • ideas for identifying potential partners,
  • suggested activities,
  • a sample letter to public officials,
  • talking points, and
  • guidelines for selecting and preparing parent leaders as spokespeople.
