Campaign Educates Parents About Health Care for Their Kids

7/26/2005:   Nationally, 8.4 million children are uninsured. Many of these children are eligible for low-cost or free health care coverage through Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, but their parents are unaware of these programs.

For the sixth year, organizations are being asked to participate in the Covering Kids & Families Back-to-School Campaign designed to connect eligible, uninsured children with health coverage programs. The campaign works with grantees in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to conduct outreach and enrollment events targeted toward eligible families, and to promote the national toll-free phone number--877/KIDS-NOW--for parents to call and learn if their children are eligible.
