Reaching Out to Former Foster Youth Serving in the Military

3/18/2005:   The National Foster Care Coalition and the United Service Organizations (USO) have partnered to identify former foster youth serving in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the course of the year, the two organizations will implement a program providing letters and care packages to soldiers who may not have family or other people to offer support to them while they are away.

To volunteer to participate in the letter writing campaign and care package collection, go to www.natl-fostercare.org and fill out an online form. If you would like more information, or you know a former foster youth on active duty in the military who might benefit from the program, call 202-454-5608 or email nfcc@connectforkids.org.
