Family Team Conferences in Domestic Violence Cases: Guidelines for Practice

11/11/2004:   Family group decisionmaking is becoming a more popular option for social work agencies and family courts, among others (as highlighted in the November-December 2003 issue of Children's Voice magazine). But many family-serving agencies might shy away from the approach in cases where domestic violence complicates matters. To that end, the Family Violence Prevention Fund has produced revised guidelines covering the thoughtful and safe use of Family Team Conferences (FTCs) for families affected by domestic violence. Designed to provide useful information for trained FTC facilitators and FTC participants, including domestic violence advocates, batterer intervention staff, other community-based service providers, and extended family members, the materials can be downloaded free of charge at http://endabuse.org/programs/display.php3?DocID=79#pub1.
