Nominations Due for "Coming Up Taller" Awards

2/16/2001:   Attention, programs sponsored by CWLA members and others that encourage creativity among youth!

Coming Up Taller Awards honor outstanding arts and humanities programs that celebrate the creativity of America’s young people; provide them with learning opportunities and safe, stable environments; and develop their skills and aspiration after school, on weekends, and during the summer.

At the fourth annual award ceremony in the fall, 10 awards of $10,000 will be presented, and 40 semifinalists will receive certificates of excellence by mail. The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts sponsor the awards.

All programs must be nominated and must have been in operation for at least five years. Self- nominations are accepted. Last year, 247 programs were nominated from 44 states and the District of Columbia. Prior recipients are ineligible.
