An E-bulletin brought to you by The Child Welfare League of America

The Legislative Bills Database

8/12/2003:   If you've ever found yourself uttering the phrase, "There oughta be a law...," you may want to take a look at the Legislative Bills Database created by Low Income Networking and Communications, the Western Regional Welfare Activist Network, and the National Welfare Engine. The website offers model state bills on education, child support, housing, predatory lending, and "Stop the Clock" legislation that suspends back-to-work deadlines for parents of young children. Although the site is in its infancy and only features a few pieces of legislation right now, it's a great place for the exchange of information concerning bills that can improve the lives of children. To add a bill or a law from your state, or to learn of model bills in other states, visit www.wrwan.org/legbills.
