Successful Collaboration
The impact of collaboration goes both ways--collaborations don't just change organizations, but the process of working so closely with others changes the individual collaborators as well. Not only can a successful collaboration achieve a tangible result, but it also affects the way people work with each other in the future. An African proverb summarizes this exchange: "We build the road, and the road builds us."
Nancy Ng, who led a collaboration while serving in the Peace Corps, is one of many who say the proverb describes her experience well; she learned valuable lessons about teamwork. "The road certainly built me," she says.
