Brighter Futures Are Within Our Reach
Secure America's Future: Invest in Children Today
The impassioned participation of CWLA's membership, Board leaders, and staff at the 2004 Biennial Leadership Summit aptly demonstrated our collective commitment to build public and political will on behalf of America's children and families, and motivated all of us to work together to elevate our issues to a higher priority in this country.
The Biennial resulted in a set of ideas and goals we all must embrace, along with challenges that we must overcome, as we work to reshape the child welfare system and create a system that children and families deserve. At a time when our field is either ignored or negatively portrayed in the media, when our good work struggles to pass a federal review, when we are more highly scrutinized than ever before, and when the children and families we serve need us most, the call for a forceful, urgent message that will help drive a true movement for children challenges all of us to achieve collectively that which we cannot achieve individually. We remain steadfast in our commitment to mobilizing in the short term and building for the long term so we can accomplish the kind of meaningful change we collectively envision for vulnerable children and their families.
We are pleased to share with you the background information that preceded our discussion, and the information that was generated over two and a half days at the Biennial. Thank you to all of the Biennial participants, and in particular to the Biennial Planning Committee, for your individual and collective commitment of time, energy, enthusiasm, and compassion on behalf of our nation's most vulnerable children and families.
