Trade Terms

Desk Copy Requests and Instructor Examination Copies

Instructors considering a book for classroom adoption may request a free examination copy. Please provide course title, course adoption decision deadline, course dates, and number of students per course. A complimentary desk copy will be provided to instructors for each class order of 10+ books.

Review/Media Copies

If you are a member of the media seeking a copy of a CWLA or Child & Family Press book for review, contact CWLA's Publications Department at 202/639-4901.

Canadian and Foreign Orders

All Canadian and other foreign orders must be prepaid in U.S. dollars by international money order or by VISA, MasterCard, or American Express. Do not send checks or currency. Customers who do not prepay will receive pro forma invoices that must be returned with full remittance prior to shipment.

Discount Policy

Not for resale. The following schedule applies to agencies and individuals wishing to order multiple copies of a single item for their own use and not for resale.
  • 10-49 copies: 15%
  • 50-249 copies: 20%
  • 250-499 copies: 25%
  • 500-749 copies: 30%
  • 750+ copies: 40%
There is no discount on bulk purchases of any prepack sold by CWLA. A discount has already been applied to items packaged together in this manner.

Trade Accounts

(Two or more single or mixed titles only; no single copy discounts):
  • Retailers:
    Returnable: 40%
    Nonreturnable: 42%

  • Wholesalers: 55%

  • Catalogers and Special Sales:
    Returnable: 45%
    Nonreturnable: 55%
To be eligible for this discount, catalogers must order five or more copies of a single title, or any 10 mixed titles. All special sales are subject to approval by CWLA.

CWLA Press and Child & Family Press are also carried by major national distributors.

Shipments

Shipments are sent UPS. Special handling on rush delivery requests will require additional postage and handling charges.

Trade Credit and Return Policy

Original order purchased on a returnable basis may be returned for credit within six months of the CWLA shipping date. Books and videos must be returned in unmarked and resalable condition, with all components intact, by traceable carrier. All returns must be accompanied by a copy of CWLA's invoice or invoice information (invoice number, account number, date, price). Send items to CWLA, Attn: Return Department, Kable Product Services, 1410 Pines Road, Oregon, Il 61064. CWLA cannot give credit for shipping costs on returns. Damaged items must be returned within one month.

Return Policy, Single Copy Catalog Sales

To return item, mail postpaid by traceable carrier, all components intact, and in resalable condition, along with a copy of the invoice, marked CANCEL, to CWLA, Attn: Return Department, Kable Product Services, 1410 Pines Road, Oregon, Il 61064. If item was prepaid, please indicate whether refund or credit is desired. CWLA does not pay for shipping costs on returns. Partial returns of video or book prepaks will not be refunded or credited.

Giftables Trade Terms

Bulk Discounts: 10% discount for purchases of 100 or more of a single item.
