PRIDE (Digital): Module 7: Promoting Children’s Personal and Cultural Identity (2 discs)
Foster PRIDE Digital Curriculum
Modules 1–9 of Foster PRIDE Core are now available in an exciting new format! Developed in concert with Governor's State University, this new interactive version of Foster PRIDE Core contains dramatizations, role-playing exercises, and internal assessment tools. The Foster PRIDE Digital Curriculum can be used as a supplement to classroom training or an 'anytime, anywhere" distance learning option for foster parents.
PRIDE Core is a multimodule competency-based training that addresses the knowledge and skills foster parents need. The modules total 87 hours of training and range in duration from 3 to 15 hours.
In Module 7, participants acquire information about the effect of culture and the meaning of cultural competence. They also gain information on the steps they can take to learn about the cultural norms of children in their care, including the use of lifebooks. They engage in activities designed to increase their ability to use the community to support children's cultural identity, to incorporate the child's culture and traditions into daily life, to manage diverse traditions in the family, and to help ensure positive special occasions within the foster family.
Session One: Valuing and Making a Commitment to Cultural Competence
Session Two: Helping Children Develop Lifebooks
