Membership Categories and Criteria
Membership in NCRCW is voluntary and is open to professionals or students, domestically or internationally based, who are committed to the mission and vision of NCRCW. There are three categories of membership in NCRCW: Member, Student Member, and Advocate at Large.
Member
This membership category includes researchers who regularly conduct rigorous research, evaluations, or quality improvement activities. This category also includes practitioners and administrators. Members may be based in
- a voluntary agency or organization;
- a for-profit agency or organization;
- a local, state, or national government agency or organization;
- a private practice (i.e. a consultant_; or
- a college or university,
or be on loan to an agency or organization.
Sponsored Student Member
This membership category includes college or university students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to the mission and vision of NCRCW. The student must be sponsored by a Member.
Advocate at Large
This membership category includes professionals based in advocacy organizations, funders, consumers, political representatives, and researchers without a current affiliation.
Membership Benefits
Participation in NCRCW affords the opportunity to
- promote your research or evaluation efforts;
- disseminate and translate research for advocates, policymakers, and practitioners;
- network with colleagues;
- interact with CWLA staff and engage in CWLA activities; and
- connect with CWLA member organizations.
Membership Responsibilities
All Members, Sponsored Students, and Advocates at Large are responsible for sustaining NCRCW and ensuring its success, as well as enhancing the visibility and public awareness of NCRCW. This is primarily achieved through participation. Specifically, members are expected to
- serve on at least one committee of interest to them;
- join committee teleconference calls;
- attend annual NCRCW meetings;
- join and use the NCRCW listserv; and
- respond in a timely manner to requests from executive cfficers or committee chairs (for example, return phone calls, respond to e-mails, and complete assignments).
