May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month

On May 7, 2001, President Bush proclaimed that the month of May would be designated as the official Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. With a national population of about 10,000,000, Asian/Pacific Americans have made many great and lasting contributions to American society. Their cultural heritage should be proudly celebrated. Although the month of May is also recognized as National Foster Care month, we would like to alert the public, especially adoptive parents of Asian/Pacific American children, that now would be an excellent time to celebrate your child's cultural identity. To view the proclamation, please visit http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/05/20010507-7.html.
