February 21, 2007, Washington, DC -- The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) will convene its annual advocacy conference in Washington, DC February 26-February 28, 2007 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. More than 1500 child welfare, human service and behavioral health professionals from across the country will attend.
This year's conference Children 2007: Raising Our Voices for Children, will offer child welfare agencies and advocates an opportunity to meet face-to-face to express their concerns about issues affecting children and families. They will discuss strategies, collaborations, and best practice models that will not only strengthen their ability to provide quality services in their local communities, but will enhance their deliberations with lawmakers. Sessions will address some of the major issues facing child welfare today such as workloads, working with immigrant children, child protection and homelessness, juvenile delinquency prevention, kinship care and child welfare financing reforms and challenges.
A key component on the conference schedule is CWLA's Hill Day - on Tuesday, February 27, when hundreds of participants will load buses and head to Capitol Hill for meetings with their congressional representatives.
