Child Welfare League of America, Ebay, and 15 Member Agencies Partner to Host Online Charity Auction During National Adoption Awareness Month

November 8, 2004, Washington, DC -- Each year, November is recognized as National Adoption Awareness Month. To call attention to this month, the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) is spearheading an online charity auction in conjunction with eBay and their charitable giving arm Missionfish. Auction items include: the official Hail Mary Football autographed by Doug Flutie and Gerard Phelan; signed Women's Gold Medal Dream Team Jersey from the 2000 Women's Olympic Basketball Team; basketball signed by Alonzo Morning; and a power lunch and 2-on-2 basketball tournament with Alan Dershowitz and Bill Walton.
CWLA will be raising awareness and support for children currently in foster care in need of adoption. "The online charity auction creates yet one more avenue for individuals, families, and communities to get involved and help children waiting to be adopted. We look forward to working with MissionFish, eBay, and our membership to sponsor additional auctions during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, Foster Care Month in May, and a host of other auctions throughout the year," said Shay Bilchik, CWLA President and CEO.

The auction will kick off on November 8th at 12:00 p.m. EST and close at 12:00 p.m. EST on November 15th. Bids may be placed at www.ebay.com/CWLA.
