CWLA's Anna Quindlen Award
Recognizing excellence in journalism on behalf of children, youth, and families
Nov. 21, 2011 Deadline
Anna Quindlen Awards:
Excellence in Journalism in Behalf of Children and Families
WHAT
The Anna Quindlen Awards for Excellence in Journalism in Behalf of Children and Families were established in 1995 to recognize individuals in the field of journalism-print reporters, editorial writers, and broadcast news--whose coverage of child welfare issues advances knowledge and understanding of the state of vulnerable children and families in America.
Nominations for the 2012 awards are being accepted through November 21, 2011.
WHO
Separate awards are given for print, online and broadcast work. Candidates for this award must have covered relevant issues over the past 12 months (from November 21, 2011) and, as a result of their work, produced positive change for children and families.
Winners will be invited to accept the award during CWLA's 2012 National Conference, Making Children a National Priority: Leading Change, which will be held February 26-29, 2012, in Washington, DC.
HOW
Electronic submissions are strongly preferred, and can be sent to Cassaundra Rainey, 718-828-0300, ext. 110. The nomination form below include additional instructions on how to submit copies of articles or video for consideration. Nominations also require a supporting statement from the nominator.

WHY
The award is named for Anna Quindlen, a novelist, social critic, and contributing editor for Newsweek. In 1992, while writing for The New York Times, she won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary. In addition to her nonfiction work, Quindlen has written several novels. Her thoughtful and impassioned commentary touches on a range of concerns, including many related to children, families, and critical social issues.
