Subject: Value-Added Feature: Housing Solutions for Child Welfare Families

Since 1992, with the support of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, CWLA has been the leading national trainer and advocate for housing solutions for the child welfare system. CWLA has helped cultivate and support local level partnerships through the Family Unification Program which have resulted in over 300 communities administering Housing Choice Vouchers for families and now young people aging out of foster care. If your work involves helping clients secure housing, CWLA's Housing and Homelessness Department Staff can help you:

  • identify local housing needs, resources, and partners for the child welfare system;

  • build solid partnerships with local public housing authorities and other housing providers;

  • learn more about how federal affordable housing policies affect your work and how you can impact these policies;

  • apply for federal funding sources for housing and services for families and youth in the child welfare system; and

  • learn more about serving homeless families, youth, and children through training and technical assistance.
