Subject:Value-Added Feature: Prudential Positive Parenting
Since 1997, CWLA has worked with The Prudential Foundation to coordinate a nationwide Prudential Positive Parenting Program, which trains child care providers, early childhood educators, and others in innovative, commonsense techniques that make parenting more effective and more enjoyable. Although the project is funded without the help of CWLA membership dues, it complements the work of our member agencies by:
- providing thousands of child care, Head Start, and other early childhood education programs with a parent education curriculum, Teaching Parents of Young Children and accompanying Parent Power Pages (free of charge)
- conducting workshops and seminars at several conferences: National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Child Welfare League of America, and the National Head Start Association; and
- supporting a group of Master Trainers to provide train-the-trainers seminars in a number of communities across the country.
In addition, CWLA staff also make available, for a fee, a 2-day train-the-trainer session for member agency staff and others to learn how to use the parenting education curriculum and other CWLA parenting materials.
