Subject: Salary Study 2003 Survey

Hundreds of you are already making use of CWLA's 2002 Salary Study to assess your organization's salaries and to lobby state and local politicians for the funds you need to do your work. We know that recruiting and retaining staff is crucial to your work everyday and that you can't provide the best services to children and families without a sufficient number of qualified staff. But if research in this area is to be truly useful, it must be updated regularly, which is why we're already at work on the next salary study. And we need your help.

CWLA's 2003 Salary Study includes detailed questions on a variety of positions. Management, child protective services, child day care, residential group care, and case management are only a few of the staff positions covered. Questions address benefits such as tuition reimbursement, leave policies, health care, savings and retirement programs, compensatory time, and overtime pay.

In February, we sent all of our members an invitation to participate in the 2003 study, and copies of the survey forms. If you have not done so, please complete and return your 2003 Salary Study surveys to Alicia Drais-Parrillo at CWLA, 50 F Street, NW, Sixth Floor, Washington, DC 20001. The original deadline was April 1, but we've extended it to April 22, so we can get more input and create an accurate portrayal of the child welfare workforce.

If you have any questions about the survey forms or need additional copies, please contact Alicia Drais-Parrillo at adrais@cwla.org or 202/662-4281.
