Subject: Accreditation Support

CWLA is proud of its members' commitment to high-quality services and well-run agencies, and we know that many of you demonstrate that commitment to children, youth and families through the accreditation process. Although accreditation cannot guarantee perfection, an organization's willingness to undertake rigorous, voluntary accreditation generally results in improved practice and outcomes for children.

Members who share the League's commitment to quality care through accreditation can expect a variety of resources in support their efforts. CWLA currently recognizes two accrediting bodies - the Council on Accreditation of Family and Children Services (COA) and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) - and provides a variety of consultation, training, and information services to help its members assess their readiness, make programmatic and administrative improvements, and achieve accreditation. CWLA and its members also contribute to the work of the accrediting bodies through active participation in their quality improvement process and standards development committees.

Want to learn more about accreditation and the resources available to you through your membership? Contact your regional office, or the National Center for Field Consultation Section of the CWLA website.
