Overview of Benefits
The cliché that there is strength in numbers has never been more true, nor has the need
for that strength been greater. The Child Welfare League of America works with its nearly 800 member agencies every day to make children a national priority. As a
member of CWLA, you add your voice to ours in ensuring that we achieve that mission.
Your membership in CWLA is critical on multiple levels, extending beyond your agency
and into the lives of many. As a member, your organization supports a range of services
at the regional and national levels that may or may not impact your agency every
day. But beyond any doubt, your membership dramatically impacts children in your
community and the quality of their lives. As a member, your contribution to the child
welfare movement in their behalf is both a compelling responsibility and a privilege.
Through its Washington, DC-based national office, CWLA uses your leadership, input,
and support to affect policy and practice throughout the United States and around the
world. Through its regional offices, CWLA looks at the critical agendas for children at
the state and local levels.
How does your CWLA membership help make children a national priority? As a
member, you not only support, but also benefit from:
- a diverse, highly experienced staff dedicated solely to children's issues;
- a range of up-to-the-minute information resources on children's issues;
- a full-time advocacy presence with the federal government, in the halls of Congress, and anywhere that issues important to the children, youth, and families in your community are being considered;
- an expanding advocacy presence at the regional, state, and local levels, where some of the most critical decisions about the lives of children are being made every day;
- expertise in the important areas of service and its delivery to children and families;
- participation in the development and implementation of the most widely used and recognized standards of excellence in child welfare practice;
- an unparalleled capacity to conduct important research and to analyze and disseminate the results;
- the nation's most comprehensive database of child welfare information;
- a full-service website linking the field with a wealth of children's services and information; and
- a nationally esteemed organization that steps forward to partner with other national groups on issues critical to the children, youth, and families you serve.
CWLA membership also brings you access to expert consultation and training; onsite
support; books, journals, fact sheets, and periodicals from the world's largest and
most respected publisher of child welfare professional literature; and national child
welfare education, information, library, and public relations capacity. The League's
conferences, training programs, task forces, advisory groups, and a full range of
national and regional membership services keep its members linked with each other
and with critical information from around the country.
Please take the time to consider the League's value to your agency, as well as the contributions
that CWLA and its strong membership make every day to children, youth,
families, and communities. Making children a national priority- with your membership,
we will!
