Job Title: Child Psychiatrist
Position Responsible to: Medical Director
Purpose of Job: Board Certified Psychiatrist who is Board Eligible or Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Primary Responsibilities and Major Objectives:
Responsible for the following clinical duties: 1. Up to 15 hours weekly of consultation time to the Board of Child Care, to be used for emergency consultation, treatment planning conferences, consultation to the administration or faculty on psychiatric issues, and routine (scheduled) evaluations of children in placement 2. Clinical psychiatric evaluation and treatment of clients will usually be done in conjunction with the LCSW staff 3. Timely medical records, including intake evaluations and treatment records, as well as documentation necessary to meet insurance and billing requirements, such as insurer treatment plans, authorization requests, billing submissions. All cases will require a BCC treatment plan and monthly update. 4. Such other duties as will be assigned by the Medical Director
Other Related Duties include: 1. Works cooperatively with team members 2. Participates in peer review and quality improvement activities 3. Maintains a current knowledge of psychiatric advances including medication and therapy options as well as a working knowledge of other childcare-related issues such as family dynamics and service options 4. Learns and utilizes BCC advances in electronic medical recordkeeping 5. Demonstrates ability to prioritize effectively, track and master detail, carry out clinical and supportive administrative plans in a timely fashion as well as maintain suitable medical records.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensure:
The position requires an M.D. degree from an ACGME recognized medical school, demonstration of Board Certification in general psychiatry and at least eligibility for board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Active licensure in the state of Maryland is required, as is a DEA certificate. Ability to qualify for insurance empaneling is contingent on proper documentation of the above, and cooperation in the application process is required, as is maintenance of current CME to continue licensure.
