Job Description:

For thirty years, Southwest Human Development, a non-profit organization, has been reaching out to children and families in Arizona with comprehensive and innovative early childhood services. From small beginnings – a staff of six serving 175 children and families – Southwest has grown into the state’s largest early childhood provider with a staff of 700 serving 135,000 children and families each year. Throughout this growth we have remained true to our mission.

At Southwest Human Development we strive to give all children an optimal start in life with opportunities for a bright and positive future. Several decades of research clearly demonstrate that each child’s earliest experiences and relationships establish the foundation for all future development – intellectual, social, emotional, physical and behavioral. A child who starts life and school with a healthy foundation is at a distinct advantage. We at Southwest Human Development are committed to creating a positive future for all young children.

We have several openings within various programs of our Family Support Services department. These positions primarily provide in-home services through home visiting to work with families in the prevention and intervention of child abuse and neglect.

We currently have openings for English speaking and bilingual English/Spanish speaking job seekers who hold at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related Human Services field. Pay differentials are provided for both Master’s degrees and bilingual ability. We also have occasional openings for those with a Master’s degree to fill management level positions.

Our current openings are in our following programs: Healthy Families, Kinship Care & Adoptions, In-Home Services, and Parent Aide. More about our programs as well as specific job descriptions/requirements can be found by visiting our website at

All positions are offered full-time with an excellent benefits package as noted below. Southwest Human Development is an equal opportunity employer.

Southwest Human Development was voted as one of the “Best Places To Work” 2011, for the fourth year running, ranking number four in the Valley in the category of large organizations. The survey is administered independently on behalf of the Phoenix Business Journal and Best CompaniesAZ. The survey looks at employee life, workplace environment, leadership, culture of the organization and management practices. The survey lets everyone in on something our staff already knew – Southwest Human Development is a great place to work!

Experience for yourself why Southwest Human Development, located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona - a rapidly growing city which boasts a wide variety of unique and exciting options for culture, education and research – has been voted one of the top four Valley’s “Best Places To Work” for four years in a row.
