Job Description:  

The Mississippi Department of Human Services is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to become a member of the senior management team. MDHS is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Deputy Administrator to report directly to the Executive Director to provide strong leadership and oversight to the Division of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS). The ideal candidate will foster strong team-building and management skills in addressing human resources and financial matters, and collaborate well with the Courts, providers, and other stakeholders.
The chosen candidate must be prepared to work closely with DFCS providing guidance and over sight in the successful implementation of the Mississippi Settlement Agreement and Reform Plan, which involves reform of Mississippi's foster care system. DFCS is charged with providing family and children services, including but not limited to, child abuse/neglect prevention, child protection, foster care services, policy development and implementation, licensing of resource families and child placing agencies, training of resource families and DFCS employees, Interstate Compact Placement for Children, Independent Living Program for Youth, Adoptions, Reunification Services, Permanency Driven Initiatives, Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives, Resource Development Initiatives, Data Development and Integrity Initiatives, Public Relation Initiatives, and the implementation of the Mississippi Practice Model Child Welfare Reform Initiative.

Salary range: $77,702.00 - $104,898.00 DOE. Potential candidates must possess, at a minimum, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited four-year college or university as well as seven (7) years experience in an administrative, professional capacity providing services to families and children, six (6) of which must have included line or functional administrative or advanced technical supervision.

Preferred Qualifications: Possess or be eligible to apply for license to practice social work in the State of Mississippi.
