To assess the needs and provide the necessary prevention services needed by at risk families of child abuse or neglect, with an incarcerated parent, that have been referred for intervention by various community agencies and the Department of Children and Families. Additionally, to assist the RECIPE Program Coordinator to provide long-term one-to-one and group mentoring to male and female ex-offenders returning to Duval County. Minimum Qualifications: Education Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related area of study from an accredited college or university required. Experience At least one year experience working with at risk families. Ability to: • Be organized and detail oriented.
Knowledge of: • Child welfare and related services. • State and federal program requirements. • Method of data collection, risk assessments and analysis. • Delinquency and dependency court proceedings.
Skills: • Microsoft Office programs. • Effective negotiations and conflict resolution skills. • Problem solving skills • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under stress, despite numerous interruptions. • Effective communication with multiple parties. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Valid driver’s license. Job Duties Essential Duties % of Time Provide in home services to at risk children and families. 25% Complete in-home assessments to determine the level of need and risk of child abuse. 5% Monitor quality of care by conducting home visits with the family in compliance with the determined level of risk of child abuse and/or neglect. 10% Assist families with crisis prevention, management and stabilization. 5% Assist families with coordination of services from community resources that would help them ensure the safety of their children. 5% Assist children/families reunify with parent returning to community from jail/prison. 5% Facilitate or co-facilitate educational classes such as parenting skills, behavioral management, money management, etc. 15% Document case activity in accordance with program policy and maintain case records in compliance with Agency, regulatory and accreditation standards. 5% Conduct outreach into the community to publicize the program and advocate on behalf of the families when necessary. 10% Report indications of child abuse, neglect and/or abandonment to supervisor immediately. As Needed Assist RECIPE Program Coordinator, as needed, with all aspects of the mentoring program, including, recruiting, orientation, screening, training, matching, and monitoring volunteers. 15% Other Duties Perform other duties.
