Investments in Children Always Grow:
CWLA, MissionFish, and eBay Partner to Protect America's Children

Every year in America, nearly 3 million children will be reported abused and neglected, and more than 1,000 will die from abuse or neglect. That is why CWLA joined forces with eBay and MissionFish back in April 2004 to host its first online charity auction during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The auction symbolically culminated on Children's Memorial Flag Day, a day when citizens and communities unite by either flying the Children's Memorial Flag, issuing proclamations, or participating in ceremonies to memorialize children lost to violence.

The results of this auction were astounding. We not only garnered significant financial support for the Children's Memorial Flag Initiative, we engaged new partners in our ongoing effort to raise awareness about the need to eliminate violence against children.

Yet the success of the April 2004 auction was only the beginning!

CWLA is committed to working with MissionFish, a nonprofit service of the Points of Lights Foundation, to host an ongoing series of online charity auctions.

All CWLA Online Charity Auctions take place on eBay
Please stay tuned for the dates of our next auction!
Recent partnership activities include:
  • April 15-22, 2005: 2nd Annual Children's Memorial Flag Auction
Building on the momentum of the April 2004 Children's Memorial Flag Auction, this auction once again supported CWLA's Children's Memorial Flag Initiative and helped us further our goal of eliminating violence against children. Together with your support, we raised nearly $3,000 in support of this important initiative. Stay tuned to our web site for the dates of our next online charity auction!
  • November 8-15, 2004: National Adoption Awareness Auction
In conjunction with nearly 10 of our member agencies, CWLA spearheaded an online charity auction during National Adoption Awareness Month to raise dollars and awareness for the children and families whose lives have been impacted by adoption. We auctioned off nearly 100 items and/or experiences, including: an official Hail Mary Football autographed by Doug Flutie and Gerard Phelan; a signed Women's Gold Medal Dream Team Jersey from the 2000 Women's Olympic Basketball Team; a basketball signed by Alonzo Morning; and a power lunch and 2-on-2 basketball tournament with Alan Dershowitz and Bill Walton.
