Investments in Children Always Grow:
CWLA and MissionFish Partner to Protect America's Children
MissionFish, a nonprofit service of the Points of Light Foundation, is dedicated to helping nonprofits raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, using a unique online auction process that turns in-kind donations into cash. In 2003, eBay invited MissionFish to build a solution that would offer their millions of users an easy way to support their favorite causes through trading in the World's Online Marketplace®. The service that MissionFish provides is a safe and easy way to do just that!
CWLA first began working with MissionFish to host an online charity auction during National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April 2004. The auction symbolically culminated on Children's Memorial Flag Day--a day dedicated to honoring and remembering the innocent child victims of violence.
The results of the auction were astounding. We accomplished all of our goals: to garner financial support for the Children's Memorial Flag Initiative, to raise awareness about the need to eliminate violence against children, and to broaden support for the League and its 1,000 child-serving member agencies.
Yet the success of the April 2004 auction was only the beginning. We plan to work with MissionFish to host a series of online charity auctions using the eBay marketplace.
