Citizens Financial Group, Inc.
Citizens Financial Group, Inc. is one of the largest banks in New England, with some 850 branches in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Citizens is actively involved in its communities through partnerships with several local nonprofits, including Children's Friend in Providence, Rhode Island, which nominated Citizens for this prestigious award. Joseph MarcAurele, President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island, was present at CWLA's 2004 National Conference to accept the award.
Lawrence K. Fish, Chair and CEO of Citizens Financial Group Inc., took that position after spending six months as a volunteer at inner-city nonprofit agencies in one of Boston's most challenged neighborhoods. The philosophy of corporate social responsibility he brought back to the company is evident in everything it does.
Citizens helped Children's Friend complete a capital campaign to build a new, 19,000-square-foot Family Support Center in Central Falls, Rhode Island's poorest city. Once the building was completed in 2000, Citizens continued its commitment to support Children's Friend and Service in its mission to improve the life chances of Rhode Island's most vulnerable children. Citizens continues to be a lead supporter of the agency's fundraising events, including its annual Walk for Children. Two Citizens Vice Presidents serve on Children's Friend and Services' Board of Directors.
