AirTran Airways
Nominated by CHRIS Kids Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia, AirTran Airways is known for its high-quality low-fare services. In an era of contracting state budgets, the partnership between AirTran and CHRIS Kids, including a financial contribution of nearly $100,000 in 2004 alone, has made a crucial difference in the agency's ability to continue providing an array of services to children who have suffered abuse and neglect.
Yet the gifts have been more than monetary. Last year, AirTran employees hosted a gigantic holiday party--a "trip to the North Pole"--for the agency's youth aboard an airplane at Atlanta's airport. This trip, the first airplane trip for most of the youth at CHRIS Kids, gave them an unbelievable educational and enjoyable experience. True corporate citizens, AirTran's senior leadership team incorporates the value of community and corporate citizenship into their daily lives through extensive community involvement and volunteerism.
