Practice Evaluation and Improvement
As the nationally recognized standard-setting organization in child welfare,
CWLA is in a unique position to assist agencies in practice evaluation and
improvement. The effectiveness of public and private child welfare organizations
and systems is largely dependent on the quality of their frontline practice
with children and families and the development, communication, support,
and monitoring of standards of quality child welfare practice.
NCFC consultants provide an initial evaluation of an agency's case assessment,
planning, and decisionmaking practices in the context of standards of best
practice and appropriate accreditation requirements. Working with key staff
members at all levels of the organization, NCFC assists in the modification of
policies, work processes, and program structure to support implementation
and maintenance of enhanced practice standards. NCFC also emphasizes the
importance of establishing client outcome measures and benchmarks as well as
the creation and support of staff development programs that promote and
sustain best practice.
