Program Information
Program
Foster PRIDE/Adopt PRIDE is a competency-based, 14-step program for the recruitment, preparation, assessment and selection of prospective foster parents and adoptive parents. This special training opportunity will focus on the content and process of implementing the nine-session, 27-hour revised preservice training program for prospective foster parents and adoptive parents (Part I). This training for trainers will include a session-by-session review and participant teach-backs. The trainer will be Ginnie Waldron an experienced PRIDE trainer.
Target Group
This training is for agency staff who train, assess and select potential foster parents and adoptive parents, and for experienced foster parents and/or adoptive parents who serve as trainers for their agencies. The PRIDE Program emphasizes the benefits of a training/family assessment team represented by a child welfare social worker or educator, and an experienced foster parent or adoptive parent. Agencies are encouraged, but not required, to send teams to the training. Trainers who are already familiar with the revised PRIDE are encouraged to assess carefully if their participation in another training is necessary.
