100th Anniversary Champions for Children Awards

As CWLA celebrates 100 years, we are thrilled to recognize the exceptional commitment of individuals, organizations, and corporations who serve as champions for children and those who work on their behalf.

The CWLA 100th Anniversary Champions for Children Awardees were nominated by their peers for their contributions to promoting child well-being and advancing the field of child welfare. The nominations highlighted the outstanding work, dedication, and commitment of all the awardees to advance excellence and innovation in serving children and families who are vulnerable.

Anna Quindlen Awards for Excellence in Journalism on Behalf of Children and Families

CWLA established the Anna Quindlen Awards for Excellence in Journalism on Behalf of Children and Families to recognize individuals in the field of journalism whose coverage of child welfare issues advances knowledge and understanding of the state of vulnerable children and families in America. Cassaundra Rainey Youth Champion Award

This award, named in memory of CWLA Vice President, Cassaundra Rainey, who was a passionate youth advocate, honors a young person (age 26 or younger) who is/was under the auspices of the child welfare system and is actively involved in improving outcomes for children and youth as a volunteer or young professional.  Click for prior award winners

Community Partnership Awards

Congressional Advocate of the Year Awards

These annual awards are given to Congress members who have made extraordinary contributions and advances to improving the lives of children and families. Click for prior award winners

Dr. Alexander Gralnick Award

The Gralnick Award was established to recognize exemplary work in research on, treatment of, or advocacy for children and adolescents with schizophrenia.  This award is given every two years.  Alexander Gralnick, who died in 1993, was the Medical Director of High Point Hospital in Port Chester, New York, and a prominent member of the American Psychiatric Association. Throughout his life, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the mental health needs of children and adolescents, in particular those with schizophrenia. Click for prior award winners

National Blueprint Champion for Excellence Awards

CWLA is pleased to acknowledge individuals and community partners with a demonstrated commitment to the principles of the CWLA National Blueprint for Excellence in Child Welfare with the goal that “all children will grow up safely, in loving families and supportive communities with everything they need to flourish.”

This award also honors CWLA member organizations that have demonstrated innovation and excellence in the delivery of programs and services for children and families, and/or accomplished successful community partnerships and collaborative efforts to advance improved outcomes for children and youth utilizing the principles of the National Blueprint. Click for prior award winners

National Corporate Champion of the Year Award

Each year, CWLA designates one outstanding member of corporate America to receive its National Corporate Champion of the Year Award. This company is selected for its exceptional, unparalleled commitment to children, youth, and families as demonstrated through its willingness to engage in partnerships and activities with organizations that benefit children, families, and communities and its sustained pattern of charitable giving that supports children’s issues.
