State-by-State Impact of FY 2006 1% Cut in Discretionary Programs

As part of a measure to offset 2005 relief spending for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Congress imposed a 1% across-the-board cut to all discretionary programs. These cuts are retroactive to programs whose appropriations were already approved for FY 2006. These cuts are separate from the additional cuts Congress sought to enact through the 2005 budget reconciliation.
