LEGISLATIVE ALERT3/3/2008National Child Care Call-in Day on March 4th! March Forth for Children!
March Forth for Children!
On March 4th, children's advocates across the country will work together to generate thousands of calls and e-mails to Congress in support of increased investments in child care and early education.
The Bush administration`s proposed FY 2009 budget cuts funding for child care and early education. Under the proposed budget, 200,000 low-income children and their families would lose child care assistance and 13,000 children would lose Head Start (analysis available at Web link).
In order to save these two vital supports for children and families, we must show our elected members of Congress that their constituents want them to invest in kids!
ACTION REQUIREDThanks to AFSCME, we have access to a toll-free number (1-888-460-0813) that you can use to contact Congress on March 4th. MESSAGECall your Senators and Representatives on March 4th and tell them that people of all ages - parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters - want to see investments in child care and early childhood education.
Urge them to reject the President's Budget and look to the future by investing in our nation's children.
