LEGISLATIVE ALERT

9/24/2007

SCHIP Expires this Week

Congress Needs Enough Votes to Override the President's Veto

SCHIP has not been reauthorized - it expires in 7 days.

Congress is voting this week. They have come a long way to create a bipartisan compromise that will extend health care to nearly 4 million more children, as well as maintain coverage for the 6.6 million children currently enrolled.

Despite this bipartisan effort, the President has issued a veto threat for SCHIP, creating a road block to providing the nation's low-income, uninsured children with health coverage.

Congress must have enough votes to override a veto! Send the message that Congress needs to stand together to cover kids this week.
