Children's Voice Display Ads

Advertising Specifications

  • Program trim size is 8.375" x 10.875"
  • Bleed: full page only (no extra charge)
  • Halftones/photographs: 133- to 150-line screen (lpi) with 266 to 300 dots per inch (dpi).
  • Electronic submissions are preferred. Please provide artwork formatted as a high resolution (300 dpi or higher) Adobe Acrobat PDF compatible with Macintosh 9.2 system requirements. When creating a PDF, please "include all fonts."
  • Artwork not submitted as a PDF must be sent in a high resolution (300 dpi or higher) EPS, TIFF, or JPEG format compatible with Macintosh 9.2 system requirements. If submitting an EPS, please include all supporting elements (screen and printer fonts, logos, photos, clip art, etc.). Provide a paper laser, inkjet, or color proof with colors indicated for any format submitted.
  • Artwork must be submitted in CMYK (four-color process colors). RGB or PMS spot colors must be converted to CMYK.
  • Halftones/photographs: 150-line screen (lpi) with 300 dots per inch (dpi). Photographs made for Web pages at a lower resolution (less than 300 dpi) are not accepted. If photographs are taken with a digital camera, settings must be on the maximum resolution allowed for the camera (eg. 3x, 4x, 5x) for printing purposes.
  • Artwork will NOT be accepted in Quicktime, Microsoft Publisher, or word-processing programs such as Microsoft Word. Artwork made for Web pages at a lower resolution will not be accepted.
  • If submitting art by e-mail, send to kdunn@cwla.org. Be sure to include a low resolution PDF for position/proof only. If e-mail is unavailable, a CD or Zip drive formatted for Macintosh, shipped via U.S. mail or other shipper, is accepted and must be accompanied by a paper color proof or laser printout with colors indicated.

We want to ensure that your ad looks as professional and eye-catching as possible; therefore, we ask that you go through this preflight checklist to make sure your ad complies with our requirements. Failure to do so may result in additional charges. Thank you.
  • Does your ad size match the sizes given in the Children's Voice Ad Rate Card?
  • If you are submitting camera-ready art-have you provided a paper laser copy or paper photographic print? Faxes, inkjet prints, and photocopies are not acceptable as final camera-ready art.
  • If you are submitting camera-ready art-are your ad components free of any staples, tape, or clips?
  • If you are submitting your ad electronically-have all of your logos, pictures, photos, clip art, and all other art been included on the disk?
  • If you are submitting your ad electronically-have you included all correct printer and screen fonts, including typefaces for logos, body type, headlines, etc.?
  • If you are submitting your ad electronically-for four-color ads, have all colors been converted to CMYK (four-color process colors)? RGB or PMS spot colors must be converted to CMYK.
  • If you are submitting your ad electronically or by film negative-for four-color ads, have you submitted a paper copy with the colors breaks indicated as you would like them to appear in your ad?
  • If you are submitting your ad electronically, have you created and saved your ad as a PDF or TIFF compatible with MAC 0S9, or as an EPS with supporting fonts, art, etc. compatible with MAC 0S9?

Contract Terms

  1. Publisher reserves the right to reject advertising.
  2. Advertisers and/or agencies, jointly and severally, agree to indemnify and hold CWLA harmless from and against any loss, liability, or expense arising out of copying, printing, or publishing of advertisements.
  3. Cover orders may not be canceled.
  4. Guaranteed positions available for an extra charge and on a space-available basis. More information available upon request.
  5. Advertisers who do not complete a committed schedule will be subject to the short rate.
  6. Rates subject to change. Ninety-day advance notice provided.
  7. Cancellations or changes in order must be received in writing prior to the space reservation deadline. Cancellations received after the reservation deadline will be billed at the full rate.
  8. If new ad is not received by artwork deadline, ad from last insertion will be used.
  9. Payment Terms: 30 days from date of invoice; 1.5% interest per month thereafter.
  10. All forms of payment must be in US funds only.
  11. 20% discount for CWLA members.
  12. 15% commission to recognized advertising agencies (display advertising only).
  13. Ads appearing in Children's Voice and Child Welfare Journal will count toward a combined frequency rate for both publications. Frequency and combination discounts applied to advertising in 12-month time frame.

Closing Dates

  • Closing date schedules apply to cancellations.
  • Magazine generally mails one week before the date of publication.
  • If new advertisement is not received by deadline, ad from last insertion will be used
  • Dates and distribution are subject to change. Check back often for updates on special advertising opportunities.
